Using Temper
A short tour. Temper is opinionated on purpose — it makes the smart call for you, then gets out of the way so you can train.
The training week
Temper thinks in weeks, running Saturday to Friday. Instead of a fixed "Day A / Day B" you have to remember, it counts the sessions you've actually finished this week and knows whether you're on your first, second, or third.
That's what lets it rotate intelligently. Skip a day, train Monday instead — Temper still knows it's your first session of the week and greets you accordingly. The rotation follows what you did, not what the calendar says you should have done.
Choosing lifts
Each slot offers a short menu. Main lifts give you two strong choices; accessories give you three. Temper marks a default — the pattern you haven't led with yet this week — but every option stays visible. Nothing is hidden from you.
Tap a lift and the menu collapses to a slim bar with the lift's name and a change ▾ control. Now you just see your working sets. Picked wrong? Tap the bar to bring the menu back.
Warm-ups build themselves
On the heavy compounds, Temper lays in a warm-up ramp automatically, scaled toward your working weight. Warm-up sets are tagged gold and kept out of your strength math.
The rest timer
This is the piece most logs get wrong. In Temper you set your rest once for the lift, using the orange control at the top — plus or minus fifteen seconds, because nobody rests for 1:33.
Then, on any set, one tap starts it. No second confirmation. It counts down, and when it hits zero it doesn't just stop — it keeps counting up and pings you once, so you always know how long your real rest is running. When you dismiss it, Temper writes that actual rest into the set and moves you to the next one.
Energy modes
At the top of every session you set your gas level:
🔥 Primed — slept well, feeling strong. Temper offers extra volume on the main lifts.
😐 Normal — the program as written.
🪫 Drained — low sleep, low energy. Temper keeps both heavy compounds (the part that protects muscle), cuts the working sets, and drops the last accessory. You still get the session in without wrecking recovery.
You can change it any time, mid-session included.
History & graphs
Every lift has an expandable last time tab: the sets you did, the real rest you took, and any note you left — a form cue, a joint that felt off, something you learned. It's right there before your first set, so last week actually informs this week.
The History tab lists finished sessions; the Graph tab tracks estimated strength over time using working sets only.
Your data
Temper is offline-first — it works with no signal in the gym. Your training lives on your device and syncs to your own space on Emotivus infrastructure. It isn't sold, mined, or shared.
